Hotel Villa Padierna takes its name from the Count of Villapadierna - one of Spain's last great aristocrats. This renaissance-style palace is situated on the Flamingos Golf Course overlooking the sea and features its own amphitheatre, ballroom, chapel, Roman bathhouse, beach club, and a unique and extensive collection of authentic Roman and 18th century statues and artefacts.
Guestrooms
All guestrooms and suites are spacious and each of the 112 rooms is unique and is filled with a variety of antique furnishings in the style of rooms in a private home. The majority of bathrooms have floor to ceiling windows that open onto terraces overlooking the golf course and the sea. The main building is Italian in style and houses 57 rooms and suites.
Linares is an extension off of the main building and houses an additional 55 rooms and suites, a grand ballroom and Thermae Spa. Linares takes its name from the Palacio de Linares in Madrid which is owned by the Villapadierna family. Both Linares and the main Villa Padierna building are entirely new constructions but are built to look as though the main villa in Roman style existed and another wing in Andalusian style was added on at a later date.
A new theatre wing extending off of the Amphitheatre is currently under construction and will offer 7 additional private villas with their own swimming pool and cinema.
Restaurants
La Loggia, a typical feature of a Roman palace, serves as a casual restaurant whose outdoor terrace and dining areas overlook the golf course and sea. La Loggia offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and informal drinks and snacks throughout the daytime and evening and also features an indoor restaurant and bar.
La Veranda Restaurant serves Andalusian cuisine at its finest and provides guests with an indoor-outdoor dining experience. The entrance room leads into a terrace covered with vines and foliage which provides an ideal environment for outdoor dining and views of the golf course, pool and sea. The indoor dining room features a giant white ceramic Bacchus wine fountain and decadent crystal chandeliers and oil paintings. La Veranda is popular with hotel guests and with the local crowd.
La Pergola Poolbar provides indoor and outdoor poolside dining and serves refreshments, cocktails, light meals and snacks throughout the day.
Eddy's Bar is a cosy English-style study with a fireplace elegantly decorated with valuable antiques and Spanish oil paintings. Eddy's Bar serves drinks, cocktails and light snacks in the evenings. The Drawing Room leads off of Eddy's Bar and is a graceful sitting room with antique gold gilded mirrors, two fireplaces and a range of antique furniture, clocks and oil paintings that depict Roman emperors.
Pool and Garden
An outdoor garden Swimming Pool area is a replication of the Bag i Fin in Persia and is a lush garden with a series of fountains and waterways made of glazed turquoise Islamic tiles that overlooks the mountains on one side and on the other the golf course and sea. Marble benches line courtyard areas around fountains protected with foliage for small gatherings, quiet conversations or contemplation. Marble sphinxes, depictions of Roman gods and other statues are interspersed throughout this garden paradise. Wonderful fragrances from Jasmine and dama de noche add another dimension.
Spa
Thermae Spa, the architecture and design of which is based on the routine of a traditional Roman bath house, reinforces Villa Padierna's role as a place of well-being. Bathers (or spa guests) move from one room to another with the traditional treatments that the Romans used: steam rooms, saunas, a cold water plunge pool, a large indoor swimming pool with jets for lap swimming and water massage, showers of oil, a salt vapor treatment, ice fountain, relaxation area and gymnasium.
There are over 100 different ways to travel through and experience Thermae Spa: "Vapor of Bali" has typical essential oils and music of Bali; "Vapor of India" echoes the scents and sounds of India; the Turkish Bath is a traditional "Turkish Hammam"; "Vapor of Salt" is a wonderful marble vapor-filled room with two large white marble Asian god statues and a pedastal filled with sea salt. Guests are guided to one of three dry saunas that vary in temperature from warm to extremely hot. A "Greek Sauna" has a replication of the stars in the night sky on the ceiling and typical Greek-inspired aromas. Two "Swedish Saunas" in varying temperatures and an ice-cold plunge pool allow guests to experience an invigorating temperature modulation between saunas.
12 treatment rooms provide space for a full range of traditional modern day spa treatments which include massages, facials, body wraps, manicures, pedicures and a Thermae Spa signature treatment: the Turkish Hammam Massage which takes place inside the Turkish Bath.
Golf
Villa Padierna is located on the Flamingos Golf Course - an 18-hole, par-71 championship course with three additional courses scheduled to open before 2008. This idyllic setting overlooking the sea has a gentleman's handicap of 26 and ladies' handicap of 34 and is one of Costa del Sol's finest.
Venues
An Amphitheatre and Chapel provide a magnificent venue for weddings and cultural events. The Amphitheatre is designed to transform into a gigantic fountain that lights up on fluorescent colours at night.
