Türkei - The Ritz-Carlton Istanbul

Fotogalerie The Ritz-Carlton IstanbulThe Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul, a luxurious 244-room hotel, is located in the famous Dolmabahçe quarter in the heart of Istanbul. The taxi drive from Atatürk International Airport to the hotel lasts 30 minutes.

The Taksim Square, a central meeting place and ideal starting point for a sightseeing tour is within a short walk. From here, a multitude of sights in the ancient city are just minutes away, ranging from the legendary Kapalı Carşı, the "Covered Bazaar" with more than 4,000 shops and the Blue Mosque to the architectural masterpiece of Istanbul - the Hagia Sophia. Istanbul is particularly known for its many palaces: the Dolmabahçe Palace, where Atatürk died in 1938, or the Şale Köşkü - the Emperor's palace in the mountains above the Bosphorus - are in the vicinity of the hotel. The Topkapı Palace, which served as the seat of the Sultan into the 19th century, is a site that should not be missed. The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul is a step away from the historic sights of Sultanahmet, the world-class shopping of Nişantaşı and the nightlife of Beyoğlu. Inspired by its surroundings, the hotel provides an ideal blend of East and West, ancient and modern, hospitality and efficiency. The contemporary design of the sky-scraping building is offset by classical Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman touches in the hotel's interior design. Like the city itself, The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul thrives on the beauty inherent in contrasts.

Turkish accents provide an immediate sense of place upon entering the hotel. The elegant and refined lobby has a marble floor with green and red borders, inspired by early Ottoman designs. Turkish carpets provide texture and color. Modern Turkish oil paintings depict scenes from Ottoman life beside historic Istanbul landmarks and images of the Bosphorus. Antiques doors, cast-iron stair railings and gilt-framed mirrors hearken back to times past. You can even get your shoes shined in the traditional way.

Restaurants

The Ottomans may well have been the first to create fusion cuisine, and The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul continues the tradition by serving Mediterranean cuisine. You can also enjoy typically Turkish tastes such as Turkish delight in the Lobby Lounge and "Rakı" (an aniseed liquor) or excellent Turkish wines in Çintemani, the all-day dining restaurant.

The mellow, atmospheric RC Bar has an impressive selection of single-malt whiskeys, rare cigars and live music. In contrast, the Güney Park serves cocktails and grilled specialities in summer months. The Vital Bar in the Laveda Spa and Terrace Bar in at the open air Spa located on the second floor terrace offers a light menu complemented with healthy cocktails and fruit presentations. The hotel's restaurant and bars all have panoramic views of the city.

Guest Rooms

The Ottoman theme continues in the guest rooms with tulips as the leitmotif on fabrics, cobalt blue Iznik tiles in the marble bathrooms and gold-leafed beds providing an air of luxury. From the elegance of The Ritz-Carlton Suite to the sensual splendor of the Terrace Suite, The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul caters to every possible need of the travelers.

Spa

But perhaps the most stunning section of the hotel is the Laveda Spa, the first and only fully equipped facility Istanbul. Both Western and Eastern therapies are offered in this tranquil and soothing setting. In addition to a rich menu of facial and total body treatments applied with all natural Sodashi, renowned Carita and Aromatherapy Associates products, Laveda also has an authentic Turkish Hamam modeled after the 16th century Baths of Roxelana that can be reserved for private use. The sensual Couples Suites offer simultaneous massages followed by whirlpool bath. The generous indoor pool is surrounded by Byzantine columns and its painted ceiling recreates the Istanbul sky. The German wellness magazine Senses presented Laveda Spa with their prestigious Senses Wellness Award in 2002, naming it the "Best City & Country Resort." The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul also has the first and only open air Spa in Istanbul. The guests may indulge in the mild breeze and the spectacular views of the Bosphorus while having massage therapies, facial and body treatments. The lap pool and two Jacuzzis at different temperatures are available for those sun tanners, who would need refreshment under the blue Mediterranean sky.
