West Indies Colonial Style
With décor inspired by West Indies Colonial design, the 13-story Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne captures the beauty of its waterfront setting with floor-to-ceiling lobby windows that offer the dramatic glimpse of palm gardens and the Atlantic Ocean. Fabrics in palettes of beige, soft green, light coral and muted golden hues are used throughout the comfortable, island-inspired lobby. The brightly colored, airy Drawing Room and new Rum Bar, a casually, sophisticated haven that hearkens back to a time of Hemingway and old-Havana with distressed leather sofas, leather-trumped coffee tables, black and white photos, large palms and overhead fans, flank either side of the grand lobby.
Guest Rooms
Spacious guestrooms and suites welcome guests with feather beds and down comforters, Frette linens and comfortable, Caribbean-inspired furnishings. Large balconies overlook either the water or gardens, with most guestrooms offering ocean views. For an extra measure of comfort and convenience, The Ritz-Carlton Club level has 64 rooms and suites on three floors and offers a private lounge, dedicated concierge service, and five complimentary culinary and beverage presentations daily.
Restaurants
The Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne blends global flavors to create innovative culinary presentations in Cioppino, the resort's signature restaurant; the Lobby Lounge, the Rum Bar, and Cantina Beach, the beachfront restaurant and bar.
Named "One of America's Best New Restaurants" by Esquire magazine, Cioppino, the signature restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne features beautifully simple Tuscan cuisine in sensuous and stunning surroundings. Creamy burrata mozzarella and other fresh cheeses are flown in twice a week directly from Italy while myriad olive oils and aged Balsamic vinegars from Tuscany combine to create an authentic regional flavor in all dishes. Menu highlights created by Chef de Cuisine Ramon Guerrero include the restaurant's signature dish, Cioppino, which features branzino, mussels, calamari, shrimp and clams in a light tomato broth accompanied by grilled crostini. An extensive wine list showcases Chiantis from Castellina to Ruffina as well as other classic Italian wine flavors available by the bottle and glass.
Cantina Beach, one of Miami's only oceanfront restaurants and an extraordinary location from which to enjoy Coastal Mexican-inspired cuisine, features a fresh, Baja California style menu under a thatched-roof palapa built by the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians with plush lounge chairs, fire pits and bar overlooking the ocean. Menu highlights include fish tacos. Guacamole prepared tableside with flair, and authentic salsas offer a perfect accompaniment to all dishes. A tequilier (a tequila specialist trained in the Tequila region of Mexico) makes recommendations and offers selections from the restaurant's extensive tequila menu. A true Miami getaway just minutes from the city, Cantina Beach is the perfect spot for an evening dinner under the stars.
The new Hemingway/Havana-inspired Rum Bar is the resort's evening gathering spot featuring 52 rums, cachacas and piscos from 18 countries including Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados, Anguilla, Antigua, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Nicaragua; five rum flights for vertical tastings; VIP Rum Lockers to securely store your own fine bottles (like Actor Andy Garcia's) and a humidor cabinet with a cigar collection, all amidst subdued lighting, large palms, overhead fans and plush leather furniture that guests can sink into and carry on conversations until the early hours of the morning. A fantastic Latin band plays every Wednesday through Saturday evening, adding to the lively, yet sultry ambience.
Floor-to-ceiling windows in the Lobby Lounge feature panoramic views of fountains, gardens and the majestic Atlantic Ocean, providing a classic setting from which to enjoy the finest selection of traditional teas, exotic coffees, a modern martini menu and delicious light fare. Special evenings of live entertainment create an enchanting nighttime ambience. A sushi bar featuring a menu with specialty appetizers, rolls and a sake selection is set up in the Lobby Wednesday through Saturday evenings for guests to enjoy.
Luxurious Spa
The award-winning 20,000 square-foot Spa overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and has 21 treatment rooms, including five facial rooms, one Couples Suite, an exclusive pedicure suite and a private massage cabana on the beach. Many of the Spa's more than 60 treatments incorporate the nutrient-rich bounties of the ocean to revitalize the body through natural blends found in South Florida and the Caribbean.
A complete Wellness Center offers spinning, Pilates (with a complete, private studio), yoga, and Tai Chi indoors, or on an expansive outdoor terrace overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Other innovative wellness classes that take advantage of Miami's tropical climate include "Pool-ates," a form of Pilates in the pool (developed specifically for the resort), Waterworks, the Atlantic Walk and Zen Jump, a new trend-setting cardio class on the oceanfront Grand Lawn that combines Zen yoga and jump roping for a perfect, lightweight workout regimen for any road warrior.
Outdoor Services and Amenities
Gone are the days when guests had to soak in the sun without the comfort of a simple cool down. To keep guests comfortable in the Florida sun, The Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne staff offers Evian water mists, sunglass cleaning, chilled sunscreen, frozen fruit delicacies, cold scented hand towels and personal wind chime wake up calls by two ocean-view pools, as well as beach cabanas. The Tennis Center is the largest of any Ritz-Carlton resort with one hard court and ten soft-clay Hydro courts, for a total of eleven courts, which are lit at night. Resident pro Cliff Drysdale and his team offer daily lessons and clinics. Drysdale is a two-time Wimbledon semi-finalist, a national singles champion and one of the top 50 tennis players of all time.
Recreation choices at the resort include nature strolls to the historic Cape Florida Lighthouse, catamaran cruises, as well as kayaking, sailing and windsurfing on the 1,200-foot beachfront, named one of the top 10 beaches in the United States. Renowned Crandon Golf Course is just five minutes away. Function Space
More than 20,000 square feet of meeting space includes a 10,000 square-foot ocean view Ritz-Carlton Ballroom, the largest oceanfront luxury ballroom in Florida, which opens onto a spacious outdoor terrace. A 2,500 square-foot Plaza Ballroom and five individual meeting rooms (three of which face the ocean) are available for special events. The resort features extensive outdoor function space, including the Oceanfront Lawn and its traditional wedding gazebo, located just steps from the sand.
